Cultist's Guide to Cthulhumas

Our December feast, kept since the 1970s and considerably calmer now than it was then. This archive collects the practical material — what chapters do on the day, what is exchanged, what is sung, what is eaten, what to tell your family when you go home for the break — along with the seasonal columns and the After-Cthulhumas writing that follows. On the recurring question of a war on Christmas: there is no war. The December feast is older than the one it is accused of attacking, it was borrowed in the same direction the borrowing has always gone, and a licensed inversion is not an assault. Kingsport has kept its own December for longer than any of us and no one has thought to ask them about it. Keep Cthulhu in Cthulhumas, by all means. He has nowhere else to be.

Without Her: A Cthulhumas Alone

My sister did not die. I can’t tell you she died. What I can tell you is that she went to Ponape two weeks before Cthulhumas and did not come back — and that this is the honest version of the holiday-loneliness page, which is harder than the sweet one.
